Kaptur, 80, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Kegan Zimmerman, 26, her campaign manager, while heading to a church service when another vehicle struck them. Both Rep. Kaptur and Mr. Zimmerman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, as reported by 13abc.com.

Hit-and-Run Investigation and At-Large Suspect

Toledo Police Department officials described the incident as a hit-and-run, or “hit-skip” crash, noting that the driver believed to be at fault fled the scene on foot. Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle stated that investigators believe weather was a factor in the collision, pointing out that Toledo experienced heavy rain showers in the hours leading up to the accident, according to the National Weather Service.
