Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Ecolab Group Inc (NYSE: ), which rose 8.97% to end at 221.18; American Waste Management Inc (NYSE: ), which rose 5.94% to close at 199.44; Leidos Holdings Inc (NYSE: ) ) rose 5.88% to close at 121.30.
The worst-performing stocks were Moody’s Inc (NYSE:) which ultimately fell 8.06% to close at 368.76 in late trade; Biogen Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 7.39% to close at 226.65; in addition, Invesco Group (NYSE:) fell 6.90 %, the closing price was 15.24.
The best performing stocks on the Nasdaq Composite were BioNexus Gene Lab Corp (NASDAQ:), which rose 282.00% to close at 1.57; Digital Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 139.09% to close at 6.85; Fibrobiologics Inc (NASDAQ:) rose 88.38% to close at 13.94.
The worst performing stocks were Sientra Inc (NASDAQ:) which eventually fell 65.13% to close at 0.20 in late trade; Sunshine Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 63.81% to close at 0.07; in addition, BIOLASE Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 63.18%, The closing price was 0.17.

Implied volatility, used to measure S&P 500 options, rose 13.78% to 15.85, a new high in nearly three months.
The price of gold futures April options contract fell 1.32% (26.80 points) to $2,006.20. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for March delivery rose 1.11% (0.85 points) to quote $77.77, while the April London Brent crude oil futures contract rose 0.73% (0.60) to trade at $82.60.
EUR/USD fell 0.58% to a price of 1.07; at the same time, USD/JPY rose 0.98% to a price of 150.81.
U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.69% to 104.76.
