The UAE seeks to be the best tourist destination friendly to people of determination, through the effective strategic initiatives it launches to enhance its achievements in the field of accessible tourism.
This came on the sidelines of the launch of the activities of the fourth session of the International Conference on Accessible Tourism, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, President of Dubai Airports, Supreme Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and the Group, in Dubai yesterday.
His Highness said: “The UAE is a pioneer in this field, and people of determination are given special priority. It is on the right track to become the best destination in the world for tourism services, and I call for concerted international efforts to ensure the provision of accessible tourism for more than a billion people around the world.”
He added: “Dubai continues its efforts and initiatives to bring together decision-makers and experts in the field of accessible tourism under one roof to exchange ideas, learn about best practices, and inform the world of its exceptional efforts to support this large segment of local and international tourists.”
Participants in the conference discussed ways to transform cities to be more comprehensive and inclusive of people of determination, under the slogan “Let’s make all cities friendly to tourists of people of determination.” They also discussed how to strengthen legislation, policies, infrastructure, and services, especially in the areas of air, land, and sea transportation.
The conference sessions touched on the challenges faced by about 1.3 billion people of determination, according to World Health Organization statistics, 50 million of whom live in the Middle East and travel as residents, visitors, or tourists around the world’s cities.
