The UAE presidency of COP28 presented on Wednesday a new draft agreement which will have to be approved by nearly 200 countries by consensus. The text calls for “transitioning away from fossil fuels” “by accelerating action in this crucial decade” with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. However, it no longer speaks of an “exit” from oil, gas and coal, as requested by more than a hundred countries.
