Abu Dhabi, 16 October / WAM / His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, participated in the virtual emergency meeting of the Conference of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The meeting discussed the recent developments taking place in the Palestinian territories and the region in general.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Omar Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Federal National Council.
In a speech before the heads of parliaments of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, His Excellency said that the UAE Parliamentary Division stresses the UAE’s firm position that there is no solution to the Palestinian issue except by reaching a permanent, just, and comprehensive solution represented by the two-state solution, in accordance with the three established pillars: the terms of reference. The relevant international agreements, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the return to the borders of June 4, 1967, so that the Palestinian people can establish their independent state on their national territory, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Ghobash thanked His Excellency Ibrahim Boughali, President of the National People’s Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and President of the current session of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for holding this meeting.
