UAE: Security and development are complementary elements

The UAE delegation, headed by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, participated in the forty-eighth session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the Pakistani capital, “Islamabad”, which was held under the slogan “Partnership for Unity, Justice and Development”.

Al-Sayegh delivered a speech before the conference – which was inaugurated by Imran Khan, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan – in which he praised the good efforts and sincere efforts made by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the support it provides in order to strengthen the bonds of unity and solidarity to achieve the goals of the organization.

He said that the UAE is fully confident that security and development are necessary and complementary elements that cannot be separated, and explained that in light of the health, economic and social challenges that the world has faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the international community has proven the importance of joint work and continuous cooperation to work to mitigate the effects accompanying the pandemic, adding Thanks to hard work, the UAE has managed to overcome many challenges at various levels, health, development, and economics, as it is now experiencing a stage of economic recovery and the pace of development has begun to accelerate and return to a pre-pandemic situation, with the continuation of Expo 2020 Dubai, and others. of international conferences and exhibitions.

Al-Sayegh pointed out that the UAE and Saudi Arabia have been subjected to many terrorist and sabotage attacks by the terrorist Houthi militia, which were classified according to UN Security Council Resolution No. 2624 and the European Union Resolution as a terrorist group due to the violations they committed against Yemeni citizens and the international community, and their responsibility for cross-border terrorist attacks. on civilians and infrastructure, as well as obstructing humanitarian access.

He expressed the UAE’s thanks and appreciation to all brotherly and friendly countries for its solidarity with it and its condemnation and denunciation of the attack it was subjected to during the month of January, which violates all international and humanitarian laws, stressing that the UAE will not tolerate or tolerate any threat to its security, and that it has the full legal and moral right. To defend its lands, people and sovereignty.

Al-Sayegh called on all peoples and countries to work to ensure security and stability in Afghanistan, and to work to promote development in this country to ensure a decent life for all segments of the Afghan people.
