The delegation’s players began their participation in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics during the division matches at the “Messe Berlin” center, after the opening ceremony ended.
The UAE Special Olympics in Berlin 2023 will participate in 20 sports in a mission that brings together 72 players of people of determination with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and 31 unified partners, in addition to the technical and administrative staff of the mission.
And a press release stated: “During the participation of the UAE Special Olympics delegation in the World Games of the Special Olympics International – Berlin 2023, the players will move between 17 specific locations for the 20 sports competitions in which they participate, which include swimming, badminton, bowling, athletics, and beach volleyball for men.” , female volleyball, basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, cycling, equestrian, and physical strength.
For his part, the National Director of the UAE Special Olympics Foundation, Talal Al Hashemi, said: “With the start of the Berlin Games 2023, we have a lot of confidence and hope in the performance of our players who made extensive efforts in preparation, and their training lasted for months, everyone is on one heart, and everyone wants to raise the flag of the Emirates.” High, and to reflect the values of Emirati society such as integration, tolerance and diligence that the world touched during the Abu Dhabi 2019 Games, and today we will start with rhythmic gymnastics, and we wish our players all the best.
The UAE Special Olympics had announced its training to participate in the World Games of the Special Olympics International Berlin 2023 under the slogan “The Road to Berlin”, and the training had already started from the beginning of this year since last January. It included the organization of four training camps, three of which were inside the country. The first two camps were organized in Al Ain in January and March, and the third camp was held in May at the state level, in addition to holding a camp in Japan for the unified women’s soccer team.
