UConn Men’s Golf Team Finishes 15th in Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational

ANALYSIS CLASSIC FINAL RESULTS

LAHINA, Hawaii – The UConn men’s golf team closed out their fall schedule with a 15th place finish at the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational being held at the Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Maui.

The Huskies finished with a three-round score of 280-290-281=851 (-1) on the par 71 course.  It was UConn’s lowest three-round team score in their four tournaments this fall.  East Tennessee State and Oklahoma, the defending event champion, were co-champions of this year’s event, both shooting aggregate scores of 810 (-42) on the week.

UConn was led by sophomore Connor Goode (Glastonbury, Conn.) who was the Huskies top-finisher, tying for 20th overall in the field of 119 golfers.  Goode was under par in all three rounds and had his low round of the season on day one of the tournament when he carded a 67 on Thursday.  Goode shot a 69 on Friday and finished Saturday shooting a 70 for a three-day aggregate score of 206, his low tournament score of the season and his second top-20 finish.

Freshman Bradley Swaka (Ellington, Conn.) finished at or under par in all three rounds and finished tied for 47th in the field.  Swaka carded a 69-71-70=210, notching his low round score of the year (69) and his low tournament score through four events.  Junior Ray Dennehy (Princeton, Mass.) was tied for 71st overall and finished with a score of 72-72-71=215.  Dennehy matched his low round score of 71, a score he has shot three times this fall, and set a new tournament low total.

Sophomore Colin Spencer (Mashpee, Mass.), playing as an individual, finished tied for 90th shooting 73-73-73=219. Senior Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) tied for 94th carding 72-79-70=220 and freshman Alex Heard (Boca Raton, Fla.) rounded out the UConn contingent in 101st with a 72-79-71=222.  Both Heard and Spencer had their best tournament scores of the fall.

The Huskies will be off until the spring when they return to the course on Febraury 5-6 at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. for BIG EAST Match Play.
