UEFA honors Ferguson 40 years late

Sir Alex Ferguson will receive yet another medal, albeit with a delay of… 40 years

Before the famous Scottish manager made history with Manchester United, winning 13 league titles and 2 Champions League Cups among others, he was on the bench at Aberdeen from 1978 to 1986.

His biggest success with the Scots was when they beat Real Madrid 2-1 in extra time in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final in May 1983.

However, then only the starting eleven and five substitutes received winners’ medals. Now, UEFA will award six more medals, with Ferguson first on the list.
