Among the lawsuits that disturb Apple’s legal system is the (alleged) violation of Apple’s patents. PanOptisparent company of Cellular Opticswhich accuses Apple of infringing its technology-related intellectual properties 4G/LTE.

In the most recent development of the case, which has been dragging on since 2020, the UK Court of Appeal agreed with a previous decision which found that the two Optis Cellular patents in question “were essential and were infringed by Apple”.

The decision was made despite the Cupertino giant’s attempt to argue that the technologies were not used in the UK, as well as that Optis was “abusing its dominant position”, according to the judgment.

The imbroglio between the companies reverberated, so that judges (from previous judgments in the case between the two) reflected on the “dysfunctional state of the current system” to determine disputes over standard essential patents and fair terms.

According to the Bloomberg, neither party has commented on the decision for now. It should be remembered that Apple “threatened” to leave the British market in the event of an unfavorable decision, such as today’s.

We’ll see what the next chapters of all this will be…
