UK consumer price inflation peaked at 7% in March, a three-decade high, driven by soaring energy, food, housing and material prices raw.
The UK’s Office for National Statistics said inflation rose to 7% last March, on an annual basis, from 6.2% in February.
According to historical data on consumer prices in the UK, the rate, recorded last month, is the highest since March 1992, when the inflation rate jumped to 7.1%.
Consumer prices in the UK are expected to rise during the month of April, after the government announced an increase in electricity prices for consumers from the start of the same month.
