Ukrainian Military Cadets to Receive Increased Stipends

Kyiv, Ukraine – The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced plans to increase stipends for cadets at higher military educational institutions, beginning with the new academic year. Cadets will receive approximately 10,000 Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH) per month.

Traditionally, education at Ukraine’s higher military institutions includes free accommodation, three meals a day, military uniform provision, and medical care. The Ministry of Defense states this year will see increased social support, with stipends beginning at the first-year level.

The actual stipend amount will vary based on several factors, including year of study, academic performance, social status, and position held.

Specifically, stipends will be distributed as follows:

  • First and Second Year: 9,646 to 10,320 UAH (for orphans and children deprived of parental care: 14,561 to 15,109 UAH)
  • Third and Fourth Year: 9,970 to 10,524 UAH (for orphans and children deprived of parental care: 14,759 to 15,508 UAH)
  • Fourth Year (Distinguished Students & Interns): Up to 22,854 UAH (for orphans and children deprived of parental care: up to 27,838 UAH)

This announcement follows a previous incident last year where a planned stipend increase for military academy cadets faced delays. Initially promised for March, the government ultimately approved the increase for May, with actual payments arriving later.
