On Friday, the Ukrainian authorities lifted the warnings airstrikes in most parts of the country. Officials in the capital Kiev said the defense systems appeared to have shot down more than 30 missiles and drones launched by Russia.

Moscow has launched about 20 separate missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities since the beginning of May.

Military authorities in Kiev said on Telegram that Russia launched drones and cruise missiles at the same time. “According to preliminary information, the air defense forces detected and destroyed more than 30 air targets of various types in the airspace over and around Kiev,” it said in a statement.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who had previously reported on two separate waves of attacks, wrote on Telegram that there had been no calls to rescue services.

On the other hand, Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the Russian Bryansk region, said in a series of posts on the Telegram application today, Friday, that two villages there were bombed by Ukrainian forces, but that there were no injuries.

Officials said attacks had increased from northern Ukraine and said Ukrainian forces had tried Thursday to cross the border into the Belgorod region, the first incursion of its kind.

Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Friday that at least one shelling incident had been reported overnight in the Chebykino district, and more than 2,500 people had been evacuated from the area.

In the context, the Russian authorities stated that the Ukrainian forces had completed the formation of groups to launch a counterattack on Zaporizhia.
