The restricted ministerial council (“kern”) of the Belgian federal government confirmed this Friday the country’s participation in the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 combat aircraft, as part of the “F-16 coalition” led by the Countries -Bas and Denmark, with the aim of delivering fighter-bombers of this type to Ukraine and training personnel capable of operating these aircraft.
Six Ukrainian instructors and four mission planners will be trained in Belgium to subsequently provide training for Ukrainian pilots and other personnel called upon to operate F-16s. Furthermore, Defense will deploy a team of three soldiers in the coming weeks to a training center for Ukrainian F-16 pilots in Denmark.
