Ukraine warns that Russia maintains almost a dozen warships in the Black Sea

The Army of Ukraine warned this Wednesday that the Russian forces have at least seven warships deployed in the Black Sea, of which two have some 16 ‘Kalibr’ missiles.

The Ukrainian Navy has indicated that “there are about seven enemy ships that are in combat mode, some armed with operational-tactical missiles,” as indicated on its Telegram account.

For his part, the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, He called his Ukrainian counterpart, Dymitro Kuleba, to express his support for Russia’s “horrible attacks”.

“I just talked with Dymitro Kuleba to reiterate the support of USA a Ukraine after the horrific attacks on the Kremlin this morning. We will continue to provide economic, humanitarian and security assistance so that Ukraine can defend itself and protect its people,” Blinken wrote on his Twitter account.

UN condemns “illegal annexation” of Russia

At the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution condemning Russia’s “illegal annexation” of four Ukrainian territoriesinflicting a new diplomatic defeat on Moscow, which had vetoed a similar resolution in the Security Council at the end of September.

The resolution, presented by Albania and Ukraine itself, and co-sponsored by some seventy countries, was approved by 143 votes in favor, five against (Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Nicaragua and Syria) and 35 abstentions, among them, China, Bolivia, Algeria, Pakistan, Honduras or Mali.

The resolution, entitled ‘Territorial Integrity of Ukraine: Defense of the Principles of the Charter of the United Nations’, declares that “unlawful acts”, referring to the referendums held by Russia in Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhia on 23 as of last September 27, “they have no validity (…) nor do they serve to modify in any way the status of these regions in Ukraine”.
