Ukraine tries to expand its gains in the south, while heavy shelling continues in the east

The southern Ukrainian forces continue their efforts to widen and deepen the pocket of territory they have taken in the direction of the strategic center of Tokmak.
Officials have said in the past two days that the units are consolidating gains after piercing the front line of Russian defenses, which consist mainly of dense minefields, around the village of Robotyne.
“In recent days, progress has been made in the Novodanylivka and Novoprokopivka area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are consolidating there,” Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said Monday.
Novoprokopivka is south of Robotyne, near the next line of fixed Russian defenses and the next target for Ukrainian forces, along with the town of Verbove further east.
