On Monday evening, Ukrainian forces bombed the Belgorod region on the border with Russia, injuring at least five people and destroying homes and power lines.

The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on his channel on the Telegram application that the town of Chepekino, south of Belgorod, was bombed three times, wounding five people. He stated that other areas were subjected to shelling fire.

Gladkov said that late on Monday, Russian air defense systems shot down a drone in the town of Valuyki. There was no immediate information about any injuries or damage, but the emergency services are working in the place.

Gladkov added that the bombing caused damage to a number of houses, as well as a farm, infrastructure and power lines.

Both sides deny targeting civilians in the 14-month-old war.

Kiev has never claimed responsibility for any attacks inside Russia and in Moscow-controlled territory in Ukraine, but has said recently that the destruction of infrastructure is a preparation for a planned ground offensive.
