Ukrainian president accuses Russia of using phosphorus bombs

the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskyaccused Russia on Thursday before the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of using phosphorus bombs in their attacks on targets on Ukrainian territory, one month after the start of hostilities in that country.

“This morning (…) there were two phosphorous bombs. Adults and children have died again,” Zelensky accused in a videoconference message during a summit of the OTAN in Brussels.

Request “unrestricted military aid” from NATO

Zelensky also called on members of the OTAN “unrestricted military aid”, so that his country can confront the Russian army, which kyiv is now fighting “in unequal conditions”.

“To save people and our cities, Ukraine needs unrestricted military aid. Just like Russia uses, without restrictions, all its arsenal against us”, declared Zelenski in a video message to the heads of state and the government of the Atlantic alliance, gathered at an extraordinary summit in Brussels, and published on their Telegram account.

“The Ukrainian army has been resisting for a month in unequal conditions! I have been repeating the same thing for a month,” he said.

The president reiterated his requests for fighter planes and tanks, above all to “unblock” Mariúpol, Berdyansk or Melitopol, cities in the south of Ukraine besieged or occupied by the Russian army.

“They have thousands of fighter planes. But they haven’t given us any yet,” he launched.

“They have at least 20,000 tanks… Ukraine asked for one percent of all their tanks! Give them to us or sell them to us! But we still don’t have a clear answer,” he said.

Zelenski also accused Russia to use phosphorus bombs in their attacks on targets on Ukrainian territory.

“This morning (…) there were two Russian phosphorus bombs. Adults and children have died again,” he accused, referring to the accusations of the government of the Lugansk region (east) after bombings in the town of Rubijné. (With information from EFE and AFP)
