Ukrainian soldiers are advancing in “all directions” of their counter-offensive once morest Russian forces, the Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister announced on Friday. Claims that might not be independently verified.
“If we talk regarding the front in general, in the east and in the south, we have taken the strategic initiative and we are moving in all directions,” said Hanna Maliar.
The Ukrainian leader said kyiv troops were advancing “confidently” in the vicinity of the devastated city of Bahhmout (East).
“In the South we are moving forward with varying success, sometimes there are days when it’s more than a kilometer, sometimes it’s less, sometimes it’s up to two kilometres,” added Hanna Maliar.
The Ukrainian army is making “continuous advances”, “500, 1000, 2000 meters a day, that sort of thing”, for his part indicated the American chief of staff Mark Milley on Friday.
Russia presents the Ukrainian counter-offensive as a clear failure and ensures that the Ukrainian forces have suffered heavy losses.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week that the counteroffensive was progressing more slowly than desired but that kyiv was in no rush to pick up the pace.
