UN Under-Secretary-General Martin Griffiths on Gaza Death Toll Rejection: An Interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour

In an interview with CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths spoke regarding why Israelis reject the Gaza death toll figures issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Griffiths said: “The number of deaths in Gaza is 11,000 or 13,000… and the number of displaced people. 4 out of every 5 people alive in Gaza are displaced. 1.6 million people are no longer in their homes.”

He pointed out that Israel “wanted to challenge these numbers because they are so horrific, and they have led to such a global reaction.”
