Thiruvananthapuram: It is hinted that a senior leader of the ruling party is behind the AI camera deal made by private companies, putting Keltron in front. It is known that there was the intervention of the political leader in Keltron’s subcontracting and their subcontracting.
After Shobha approached Keltron with the Renaissance Information Technology (SRIT) project, Keltron approached the Department of Motor Vehicles in 2019.
The sub-contract was awarded to Prasadeo Company of Kozhikode, which was registered in 2020.
Keltron will be part of the project as the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) for the five-year Build on Operate and Transfer (BOOT) project. Even though the government ordered that all further steps should be transparent, Keltron concealed the sub-contract. Although there was a discrepancy in the amount, the Secretary of Transport issued a final order stating that ‘the work order given by the Transport Commissioner cannot be cancelled.’
The explanation in the order is that given the almost complete completion of the works on the SAFE Kerala project, the government has given clearance for almost all the components in various phases and because Keltron is a public sector undertaking of the government and has installed all the equipment.
Commencement of contract
2019: On December 28, the Department of Transport approved the Service Level Agreement between Keltron and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
2020: The Transport Department’s order came down on April 27 after the plan given by Keltron was examined and approved by the Finance Department’s Technical Committee and the IT Department.
