Uncovering the Scandal: Vanishing Literature Classics from Mandatory Reading

This year there was a scandal with the Unified State Examination in Literature. The developers have published materials from which it follows that everything that was written before the second half of the 19th century has disappeared from the mandatory reading works: “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign”, Zhukovsky’s poetry, Fonvizin’s “Undergrowth”, Griboedov’s “Woe from Wit” and, what Literary scholars were especially excited by all the texts of Pushkin, Lermontov and Gogol, including The Captain’s Daughter, Eugene Onegin, A Hero of Our Time, The Inspector General and Dead Souls, familiar from school.
