Authorities believe there could be more bodies underground in the area.

The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the discovery of two bodies buried under concrete in Arica, in northern Chile, which would be related to the criminal organization Tren de Aragua.

“We know that there could be more, not in this particular place, but in Cerro Chuño,” confirmed the regional prosecutor of Arica and Parinacota, Mario Carrera.

During the afternoon of this Thursday, the prosecutor’s office announced the discovery of two bodies buried under a concrete structure in Cerro Chuño de Arica.

Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Brigade and the PDI Homicide Brigade began working at the scene as part of an investigation against an organization called Los Gallegos, an armed wing of the Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua.

As confirmed by the regional prosecutor Mario Carrera, the perpetrators of the crime would be detained, which will be confirmed when the victims are positively identified.

“If they correspond to the identities that we are looking for, we would even have the perpetrators already in pretrial detention for other homicides and for other causes,” said the prosecutor.

“In the framework of the investigation, we had determined a place where there were presumably two corpses, we had carried out a previous search in the previous months, without results, but we continued investigating and today we were finally able to find those two corpses,” he added.

In addition, he affirmed that there is certainty that there are more corpses buried in the place and that they would correspond to victims of the gang that is part of the Tren de Aragua.

“Unfortunately they are not the last corpses we are looking for. We know that there could be more, not in this particular place, but in Cerro Chuño,” she stated.

To carry out the work, heavy machinery had to be used since the bodies were several meters underground and covered by a concrete structure.
