After being presented 9 months ago during Gamescom 2022, Under The Waves showed itself again during Summer Game Fest 2023. In this short trailer, we can glimpse a little more of the sublime underwater world developed by Parallel Studio and published by Quantic Dream.
When Firewatch meets Subnautica
Under the Waves is a narrative adventure game set in a techno-futuristic underwater world. Stan, a professional diver, struggles to come to terms with his loss and find a new future. The isolation of the sea depths reflects his state of mind. As he explores the abyss, Stan encounters strange occurrences. He will have to choose between remaining trapped or returning to the surface to rebuild his life.
In this trailer, Stan is seen exploring the abyss aboard his miniature ship, reminiscent of Ghost Song. He is tasked with performing routine missions, but he seems to gradually lose his sanity, being subject to auditory and visual hallucinations. It remains to be determined if these hallucinations are a figment of his imagination or if they are caused by an underwater entity, as his journey could take a darker and quicker turn than expected.
Under The Waves will be available on August 29, 2023 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
