It was through advertisements published on “Quartier-Rouge”, a site dedicated to erotic encounters or escorts, that the gang had put several underage girls into prostitution, three aged under 15 and another 16 years old.
The girls’ performances were organized in hotels or rentals booked on the Airbnb platform. The victims had been forced into prostitution and meeting up to 15 clients in one day.
The facts took place between November 2019 and December 2020 in Liège and Arlon. A client, surprised by the young age of the prostitute, had denounced the facts to Child Focus.
Two of the main defendants involved in this association of criminals had been sentenced to 10 years and 7 years in prison.
A third defendant had responded to the same charges of trafficking in human beings, debauchery with a view to prostitution, exploitation of the prostitution of minors, in the context of prostitution and criminal association. He had appealed against the 3-year prison sentence imposed at first instance.
The Court of Appeal confirmed the sanction, but it granted the defendant a probationary reprieve of 5 years for the remainder of the preventive detention.
