Belenkov pointed out that the causes of the “broken heart” syndrome are due to deep stress and extreme emotions, such as the loss of a relative or lover, which is what women over the age of 55 usually suffer from.

Regarding the symptoms of broken heart syndrome, Belenkov explained that they include fluctuations in the level of blood pressure, as it sometimes appears to rise in the form of a “wave” from the chest towards the neck to the head, and chest pain that moves to the left arm, lower jaw and between the shoulders, with a high temperature and sweating. Cold and sticky caused by low blood pressure and shortness of breath, as well as fear of death.
