If essential oils are reputed to be natural, having toning, soothing, etc. properties, they are in reality highly concentrated chemical compounds which can prove harmful if precautions are not followed. The European Union classifies some of them as dangerous substances (CLP Regulation 1272/2008) and requires, as such, the presence of clear notices intended to inform the consumer.
