CAN ALL EARTHQUAKES GENERATE TSUNAMIS?
A Tsunami are waves several meters high produced by an earthquake whose hypocenter takes place under the ocean. These earthquakes cause the sea floor to move vertically, which generates a violent displacement of the volume of water that is above it.
On the contrary, low-magnitude tremors and those that produce horizontal displacements on the ocean floor do not generate tsunamis.
