“Lebanese Debate”

There have been many discrepancies in politics and the media about the extent of understanding between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar regarding the file of the presidency. And at a time when some consider that Qatar’s presidential endeavors are being carried out in coordination with the Kingdom, others see that each of them sings on his nights, and each party has its own accounts, view, and purpose from Lebanon.

It seems, according to what is witnessed in the Lebanese arena, that the Saudi-Qatari coordination regarding the presidency of the republic is shy, not to say non-existent. This is indicated by the leaks that emerged from the meetings of the Qatari envoy who visited Lebanon a few days ago, and when comparing these leaks with the Saudi position conveyed by the political forces on Ambassador Walid Bukhari, the size of the difference between Riyadh and Doha becomes clear.

Saudi Arabia, through Ambassador Bukhari, raises the flag of “presidential” neutrality, refraining from entering into the game of “vetoes” and supporting names. As for Qatar, it is the second country after France to enter the quagmire of candidates and prefer some over the other, and everyone knows that Doha wants General Joseph Aoun as president.

According to the atmosphere, a Saudi-Qatari divergence began to surface on the surface of the relationship between the two parties, and it is expected that this discrepancy will expand to become a dispute governed by the interests of each side, specifically Qatar, which wants Lebanon to become a platform for its economic interests.
