A woman had quite a surprise last Friday when she discovered a grenade in a toolbox belonging to her father who died in October.
Kedrin Simms Brachman was emptying her father’s house in Knowlton, a small village in Lac-Brome, in Estrie, when she found an antique grenade.
Quickly, she called the Sûreté du Québec who took her statement which boiled down to “I just want the grenade out of this damn house,” she explained on Instagram.
«[Le policier] told us, because we had discovered the grenade, the apparent age of the grenade, and that we were not the owners, that the Canadian Army had to come!” can we also read in the publication accompanied by photos of the scene and the explosive object.
The two soldiers who assessed the situation seemed surprised to see that the grenade was real and intact.
“They came out with the grenade secured and said this was the first time in these types of calls that the grenade, detonator, etc. had been removed. were intact,” said Kedrin Simms Brachman.
The woman, who lives in the United States, said she remembers seeing her father bring the explosive device home when her grandfather died 30 years ago.
“We all asked him to get rid of it and thought he did…well he didn’t and she [n’était pas rangée en sécurité] and had moved with him several times,” she said.
Fortunately, all’s well that ends well and now Kedrin Simms Brachman can laugh regarding this anecdote.
