A reconstructed apartment complex in Gangnam, Seoul, which is only three weeks away from moving in, did not receive completion approval from the district office.

This is because the infrastructure construction is not yet complete.

Prospective residents are upset that there are traces of poor construction even inside the apartments.

Reporter Go Jae-min visited the scene.

From the entrance to the apartment, construction materials are strewn about and piles of dirt are piled up.

Even though it is the weekend, construction equipment is busy.

Gangnam’s largest rebuilt apartment with 6,700 households and an asking price of 100 million won per 3.3 square meters.

Move-in is just less than 3 weeks away.

Construction is still in progress throughout the apartment complex. As you can see, even though it is the road leading to the apartment entrance, the pedestrian path is not yet completed.

Construction site filmed by MBC on the 24th of last month.

Even today, nearly 20 days later, it doesn’t look much different.

In the end, Gangnam-gu Office did not grant completion approval.

It is difficult to say that construction, including auxiliary facilities and infrastructure, has been completed as planned.

In particular, only 70% of the storm water pipe construction was completed.

″We need to submit elevator safety certificates, fire extinguishers, etc., but that is not possible right now, storm drains are not in place, and the infrastructure is not in place.″

The situation is not good not only outside but also inside the apartment.

Photos taken two weeks ago, during a preliminary inspection.

There is a gap between the wall and the floor, and the marble attached to the wall has gaps and broken edges.

There are many parts that have not been constructed at all.

″They say it’s a wooden floor, but it looks like it’s been painted yellow and has no wooden pattern at all, and the windows are so difficult to open and close… ″

The district office also requested that prospective residents be notified in advance of the postponement of the scheduled move-in date as move-in delays are expected.

″It is currently uncertain whether we will be able to move in or not, so should I also delay it a little? Even people who are currently living on a jeonse basis are in trouble right now.”

The construction company and the union say they will do their best to allow residents to move in within this month as planned, but prospective residents are unable to hide their anxiety about whether they will be able to move into the right house on time.
