uniko: Vitouch unanimously elected president

After Sabine Seidler was replaced as rector of the Vienna University of Technology (TU) in October, Vitouch was already acting uniko chairman. The rector of the Linz University of Art, Brigitte Hütter, and the rector of the Medical University of Vienna, Markus Müller, were chosen as his vice-presidents.

Vitouch has chaired uniko several times. He was elected to the top in 2016 after Sonja Hammerschmid became education minister for the SPÖ immediately after beginning her term as uniko president. In 2019, he took over leadership on an interim basis when Eva Blimlinger was initially not re-elected as rector and then ran for the Greens in the National Council election campaign. Vitouch is a professor of general psychology and has also completed music studies (clarinet and piano).
