Lauderdale County Police

In Alabama, an inmate considered dangerous and a prison guard are out in the wild. Actively wanted, the man escaped on Friday. As it stands, we do not know if the supervisor is his hostage or his accomplice.

Lauderdale County Deputy Director of Corrections Vicky White, 56, released inmate Casey White, 38, from jail. She explained that she had to take him to the courthouse for a psychological examination. But both disappeared and authorities discovered that no assessment was scheduled that day. CNN precise that even though they have the same surname, the inmate and the guard are not related.

“She is in danger”

“He was in jail for capital murder, and he had nothing to lose. Whether she helped him or not, we don’t know, and we won’t address that question until we have absolute proof that it did. We assume at this point that she was taken against her will. But regardless, even though she helped him, we believe she is in danger,” said Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton.

The vehicle used to get out of the prison was found abandoned in a parking lot. Authorities don’t know if Casey White and Vicky White borrowed another one. But as the supervisor remains untraceable and unreachable, they imagine that the two are still together.

According to security protocol, two officers were required for any Casey White outings. It was not respected, without the reasons being known for the moment. The supervisor, in office for twenty years, is described as an exemplary and respected employee, with a spotless career.

75 years in prison

Casey White was serving 75 years in prison for a series of crimes committed in 2015. He was also awaiting a new trial for murder.

The guard had a 9mm handgun. The police therefore consider that the fleeing detainee is “armed and dangerous”.

The investigation was entrusted to the service of the US Marshals. A reward of $10,000 will be offered for any information leading to the two missing persons.
