Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke this afternoon with the American Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken.
The two ministers spoke of our close and confident coordination on the war in Ukraine. The Minister recalled the efforts made by France to support Ukraine in terms of defense equipment. The two ministers discussed possible initiatives for new sanctions aimed at Russia in the face of the latter’s continuation of its war of aggression against Ukraine. They discussed the subject of food security and the FARM initiative supported by France and the European Union.
The two ministers also discussed the importance of our relationship with the countries of the Western Balkans and of our coordination to ensure the stability and European anchoring of these partners in the face of the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
