United with brother Franz: Moritz Wagner stays with Orlando Magic

The German basketball brothers Wagner will play in the same NBA team with immediate effect. After Franz was drafted by the Orlando Magic, Moe signed a new contract in Florida.

The hopes of basketball player Franz Wagner (19) have been fulfilled. Together with his older brother Moritz (24), the small forward will play for the Orlando Magic in the coming NBA season. According to media reports, Moe Wagner and the Florida team have agreed on a two-year contract. Orlando had previously drafted Franz Wagner in eighth place in this year’s talent lottery, the draft, and provided him with a contract.

Moe Wagner was last active with the national team at the Olympics

His older brother Moritz joined the Magic at the end of last season after the Boston Celtics split from him. Wagner had previously moved to Boston from the Washington Wizards. He made 11 appearances for Orlando, 10 of them as a starter, and averaged 11 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Before the draft, Franz had expressed the desire to play together with his brother. “He’s a pain in the ass… sorry – playing against him is really tough,” said the younger Wagner brother.

Moritz was last used at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. With the German national team, the native of Berlin reached the quarterfinals, which the team of national coach Henrik Rödl lost against European champions Slovenia (70:94).
