The University of Hartford softball team plays back-to-back doubleheaders against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents.

HARTFORD QUICK HITS

  • Hartford is coming off a doubleheader split with Western New England as they exploded for seven runs in the tenth inning to secure the win in the second game.
  • Graduate student Mara Sczecienski is leading the team slashing .429/.438/.700 with a team-high 21 RBI, which is fifth in the CCC. The second baseman has 30 hits with five doubles, four triples, two home runs, and a team-high 19 runs scored. She is also a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts as the Hawks are 35-of-39 on the season.
  • Junior Olivia Wolk leads the team in hitting, slashing .393/.457/.525 on the season. She is ninth in the CCC in hitting. Wolk has scored 14 runs with three doubles, one triple, and one home run with 16 RBI.
  • Sophomore Gia Miccio is hitting .500 during her current six-game hitting streak, raising her batting average by nearly 100 points from .267 to .360.
  • As a team, the Hawks have posted a 3.01 ERA, good for fourth in the league, with freshman Gracie Hopkins (3-1) leading the charge. The rookie is fourth in the CCC with a 1.95 ERA, allowing eight earned runs over 28.2 innings on 31 hits.
  • Sophomore Carly Mayhood (5-2) leads the team and is tied for fourth in the CCC, with 42 strikeouts and has an ERA of 2.32. Sealey (3-2) is holding opposing batters with a team-low .225 batting average.

SCOUTING ENDICOTT

  • The three-time reigning CCC champions are back on the top of the standings and they are doing it with pitching and defense. The Gulls lead the conference with a 1.55 ERA and have a conference-best .970 field percentage.
  • Their offense isn’t taking a back seat as the Gulls are tied with Hartford for third place with a .291 batting average. The teams trail Suffolk and Curry, which are hitting .292 as a team.
  • The top two hurlers in the CCC both sport Endicott uniforms as freshman Kristen Beebe leads the conference with a 0.92 ERA, followed by senior Jaylin Couto’s 1.40 ERA. Couto is fourth in the conference with 51 strikeouts.
  • Junior Chloe Shapleigh leads the team in multiple categories, including doubles (6), homers (6), and RBI (24), while slashing .407/.443/.852 – all team-highs.
  • Graduate Katie Watters (.319/.404/.475) and freshman Mia Mitchell (.333/.389/.364) are providing offensive support for the Gulls.

SCOUTING UNIV. OF NEW ENGLAND

  • The Nor’easters are 2-8 since returning from their Spring Break trip.
  • Emma Michaud is the top offensive threat for UNE, slashing .356/.451/.390 with a team-high 14 RBI.
  • Three other hitters – Hannah Irons (.313), Becca Dumont (.308), and Olivia Howe (.306) – are all hitting over .300 for the Nor’easters.
  • UNE brings a conference-worst 6.26 ERA into the game.
  • Mo Kinsella has thrown a team-high 53 innings, allowing 37 earned runs for an 4.89 ERA, while Liv Arvidson (7.00 ERA) and Kara MacDonald (8.94 ERA) round out the staff.
