ANN ARBOR, MI — Friday marked the day before the long-awaited Michigan vs. Ohio State rivalry game.
As the Michigan Marching Band eagerly awaited to take the field for the tense matchup, there was something else the band looked forward to after practice.
Thanksgiving dinner at Cottage Inn.
Cottage Inn opens just for the Michigan Marching Band the day after Thanksgiving to celebrate the students for working over the holiday weekend.
“We started in 2008, we had a late rehearsal to get prepared for the Ohio State game and thought wouldn’t it be great to have a Thanksgiving dinner together,” Donald R. Shepherd Professor of Conducting; Director of the Michigan Marching and Athletic Bands said.
“I love that all 400 students of the Michigan Marching Band plus faculty and staff can come together and celebrate the holiday,” Shepherd added.
For home and away games the Michigan Marching Band enjoys dinner at Cottage Inn the day before the Ohio State game annually.
