University rectors speak out on the elections

The Venezuelan Association of University Rectors (Averu) issued a statement in which it established three fundamental aspects that citizens must take into account for the presidential elections on July 28.

In the first of them, they call on Venezuelans to participate in these elections, in order to “validate the civic commitment to exercise the sovereign right to vote as part of the functioning of the democratic system.”

In the second, he addressed the institutions responsible for these elections to “comply and enforce the necessary guarantees in favor of political actors and voters.”

In this regard, he stressed that these organizations “have a leading role in the security and safeguarding of the exercise of sovereignty through voting (…) and in the counting of votes in accordance with the electoral law.”

Finally, he mentioned that “a broad dialogue must be sought to build agreements with the different sectors of society with a magnanimous and inclusive vision.”
