The new social telecoms tariff will come into force on March 1, 2024, in accordance with the agreement concluded by Petra De Sutter, Federal Minister of Telecommunications, with the government and operators. Just like VOO and Telenet, Proximus will also offer it. Concretely, eligible customers will have the possibility of taking out an internet subscription with Proximus for 19 euros per month and a pack with TV and internet for 40 euros per month.

The new system does not consist of a discount on the commercial rate, but of two distinct formulas:

  • Social internet offer: 50% discount on installation costs, 150 GB, 30 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload for 19 euros per month.
  • Internet and TV social offer: 50% discount on installation costs, 150 GB, 30 Mbps download, 4 Mbps upload and full TV experience for 40 euros per month.

Both offers will be offered on a copper or fiber connection from Proximus. Social pricing will no longer be available at Scarlet and Mobile Vikings.

Who can benefit ?

The eligibility criteria for the two proposed formulas have been broadened. The FPS Economy will inform citizens via the website www.offreinternetsociale.be.

Eligible customers can go to a Proximus point of sale, contact the Proximus contact center or go to proximus.be/social. Thanks to an integrated and automated solution, points of sale and call center staff can check, via FPS Economy systems, whether the customer is eligible for these new social offers once the order has been coded. In the interest of transparency and fraud prevention, the FPS Economy will re-examine the situation of each entitled person every six months.

Customers at the limit of the conditions for obtaining the social tariff can always turn to Scarlet. With an internet offer from 23 euros per month and a pack with TV from 42 euros per month, Scarlet offers affordable products and services to consumers looking for a basic offer for internet, mobile data or telephony.
