Las Vegas is bracing for a monumental showdown as the competition for the 2025 Mr. Olympia title intensifies. A prominent bodybuilding coach has identified four athletes poised to battle for the coveted Sandow trophy, with a surprising assessment of one competitor’s potential to upset the frontrunners.
The Contenders Emerge
With less than three weeks until the 61st Joe and Olympia Fitness & performance Weekend, speculation is rife regarding who will claim victory. Reigning champion Samson Dauda faces a formidable challenge, particularly after his recent defeat to Derek Lunsford at the arnold Classic earlier this year.Lunsford further solidified his position with a win at the pittsburgh Pro, narrowly defeating Nick Walker in a tie-breaker.
Adding to the intrigue, Hadi choopan, the 2022 Mr. Olympia winner, has finally secured his visa and arrived in the United States, entering the fray as a serious threat. Neil Hill,a renowned bodybuilding coach and mentor to Classic Physique standout Mike Sommerfeld, has publicly shared his predictions for the upcoming competition.
Hill’s Top Four and Walker’s Potential
Hill has pinpointed Samson Dauda, Derek Lunsford, Hadi Choopan, and nick Walker as the athletes most likely to contend for the top spot. Though, he emphasized that a peak performance from Walker could shake up the entire competition. According to hill, these four represent the only realistic contenders unless one of them falters.
“Those are the guys who are going to be battling in that top three,” Hill stated. “I’ve named four athletes: Samson, Derek, Hadi, and Nick – I just don’t see anyone else challenging unless any of those guys are not on.”
Dauda’s Reign Under Pressure
Hill acknowledges that defeating dauda will be a notable feat, especially considering the champion’s improved physique showcased during a recent guest posing appearance in Romania. He noted Dauda’s impressive conditioning, however, cautioned that excessive shredding could potentially compromise his muscle mass, a crucial element for competitive success.
“I feel it’s going to be very difficult for Samson to be beaten,” Hill explained. “My only constructive comment with samson is I saw that recent guest posing he did in Romania. He looked incredible. But don’t forget: he’s on his own, stage lighting, everything, but I think he’s in an incredible place.”
Hill cautioned, “As long as he doesn’t loose so much muscle that he, with his height and structure, doesn’t have enough muscle to be competitive. That’s a question mark. Ultimately, he’s still superior with his shape and structure over Derek, over Hadi, and over Nick.”
The ‘Mutant’ as a Wild Card
While acknowledging that Dauda, Lunsford, and Choopan possess superior structure and shape, Hill believes Nick Walker, nicknamed “The Mutant,” holds the potential to triumph if he delivers the best physique of his career. Walker’s exceptional muscle mass could prove decisive.
“Nick is the wildcard. Who is going to be able to outmuscle Nick? probably nobody,” Hill asserted. “But the truth is, shape and structure, Derek is still superior, Hadi is still superior, Samson is still superior, but I also feel that Nick, if any of those guys are not 100% and Nick brings his 100%, then he’s going to scalp. He’s going to scalp them, there’s there’s no doubt whatsoever about it.”
A Walker victory, hill suggested, could provide a positive narrative for the sport, emphasizing the rewards of unwavering dedication and perseverance. “That would be a positive thing for the industry in some ways. You can’t not reward somebody’s hard work, and if they bring their lifetime best, you’ve got to look at them.”
| Athlete | Key Strengths | Potential Weaknesses |
