In 2023, Meta added the ability to create “mailing lists” to its messaging application during an update. Thanks to this somewhat hidden feature, it is now possible to know if someone has blocked you on WhatsApp.
The application for 2 billion users is frequently updated, quite often with its share of new features. The mailing list is a fairly recent feature that allows you to send the same message to multiple contacts, without having to create a group. You can create and save as many mailing lists as you want, if you need to use this feature often.
How does this feature let you know if one of your contacts has blocked you?
“Only people who have added you to their phone contacts will receive your broadcast message” indicates What’s up in the user support. It will therefore be impossible for you to send a message to a contact who has blocked you, or deleted you from their contacts.
You can include up to 256 contacts in a list and create as many as you want. Nothing is too complicated. On iOS, you just need to go to “Discussions”, then “Mailing Lists” and finally “Create New List”. On Android, you can find this function in “More options”.
