In its latest teaser, the spin-off set in France reveals its vision of the capital in a devastated and unrecognizable version.

Series The Walking Dead dedicated to the cult character played by Norman Reedus (Death Stranding) continues to reveal his road trip in our beautiful country. Finally, beautiful, it is quickly said. Obviously, France following the apocalypse linked to the return of the dead to the landscape was not without consequences.

After a few nods to some iconic places in France like Mont-Saint-Michel, the AMC series has finally revealed what Paris would look like in the mini-series. Suffice to say that aficionados of the hashtag “SaccageParis” may have nightmares.

The city of light, extinguished

In this new teaser, we find Daryl Dixon sailing on the Seine in a small boat. Around him, we immediately recognize the Parisian quays, a few Haussmannian facades a priori intact, until the shock of an Eiffel Tower with a broken tip. A necessary reminder of the dangerousness of the place, far from romanticism and postcard clichés.

Not sure Daryl needs to be reminded, following his long misadventures over the show’s 11-plus seasons The Walking Dead. Moreover, the reasons for his trip to France, with Paris as the objective, still remain completely mysterious.

Last tango in Paris

What we already know, however, is that he will be reuniting with his main series partner, Melissa McBride (Carol). Surprised in the middle of filming at La Défense by a French photographer, the actress will finally make her return, when she had been envisaged as the other half of an upcoming duo.

Finally, Daryl will be the central character, and his ex-partner might only have an anecdotal role. In addition to these probably moving reunions, we look forward as French spectators to discovering more regarding the state of our country as well as the vision that the creators of the show had of it. Please spare us this time the 2CVs, the zombies wearing berets or armed with chopsticks.
