As a video on social media now shows, the tourist in Rome obviously did not follow the rules. The woman climbed over the historic fountain to fill up her drinking bottle at one of the fountains. “Bad idea,” wrote a user of the short message service X, formerly Twitter, about the recordings. After all, there are actually hundreds of drinking water fountains that are spread across the entire city of Rome and Ostia.

Numerous vacationers cavorted around the fountain and watched the spectacle of the woman standing in the middle of the city’s landmark. When the bottle was filled, she climbed back to join the rest of the visitors.

The video was originally made by the Irish editorial service provider Storyful published. The tourist Lex Jones had leaked the recordings to the company. “I was just like, wow, that’s crazy, so I started filming it,” she said Storyful. The other visitors were also confused by the signs. “There were signs everywhere saying it wasn’t allowed,” Jones said.
The action did not go unnoticed by the security service. Just before the video ended, the woman at the Trevi Fountain was alerted to her misstep with a shrill whistle. A security officer in a yellow safety vest headed towards the vacationer and finally led her away from the fountain. However, it is not known when the video was recorded.
