A released Israeli hostage says he was locked in his attic for over 50 days by a teacher from the UN relief agency UNRWA. The UN teacher was therefore fulfilling the “service” of the terrorist organization Hamas. This is reported by journalist Boker Almog from Israeli Channel 13.
In addition, a doctor has held another hostage captive, he writes on X (Twitter). According to information from the author, both hostages were the founder of the Tel Aviv Institute Hen Mazzig about children.
The UN teacher was a teacher and father of 10 children. He treated the hostage badly, gave him little food and no medical care – while he continued to provide loving care for his family.

▶︎ Above all, there is fundamental criticism of the disastrous role of UNRWA in the Middle East conflict. With it, the UN created its own authority in 1949 for the few hundred thousand Palestinian refugees (who did not yet call themselves “Palestinians” at the time).
But instead of ensuring that they, like all the other refugees around the world that the UNHCR takes care of, settle somewhere (the Arab states opposed this), it created its own definition of “refugee” for the Palestinians the refugee status is inherited.
According to UNRWA rules, anyone who has any ancestor who left Israel in the 1948 War of Independence is also considered a refugee. Palestinians who were born in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the West Bank or Gaza and spend their entire lives there remain “refugees” forever and ever.
Even 75 years later, the 5.9 million “refugees” who are actually not refugees still cling to the ideology that they will be able to “return” to today’s Israel at some point. But that is impossible because Israel could not exist as a Jewish state with them.
Germany increases UNRWA funds
UNRWA is financed almost exclusively by donations from governments around the world and some private actors. With 30,000 employees, it is also one of the largest employers in the Palestinian territories, runs over 500 schools there and distributes humanitarian aid.

The Federal Republic finances UNRWA both through payments to UN organizations and EU funds as well as directly through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Foreign Office.
According to UNRWA, Germany paid 180 million euros to UN organization projects in 2022.
And on October 24th, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (42, Green Party) announced in her speech to the UN Security Council: “(We) are increasing our humanitarian aid to Gaza by 50 million euros, of which 19 million will go to UNRWA.”

Will it stay that way? A spokesman for the Foreign Office told BILD: “It is completely clear: violence, anti-Semitism and the denial of Israel’s right to exist are never acceptable to us. If the allegations of an abducted person are proven to be true, UNRWA must immediately draw conclusions. UNRWA has consistently assured us and other donors that UNRWA is fully committed to United Nations values and humanitarian principles and maintains a zero-tolerance policy for calls for violence and hatred from its staff.”
FDP politician: Put UNRWA in Gaza to the test
“It is high time to condition the funds for Gaza and, if this is not possible, to be prepared to freeze them in the end,” demands FDP foreign politician Frank Müller-Rosentritt (41). The fact that, on the contrary, they would be increased by the Foreign Office is “difficult to understand.”
Müller-Rosentritt continued: “Those familiar with the matter have long known that UNRWA was part of the problem rather than the solution. Now it’s obvious for all the world to see.”
He demands: “After this war, we must properly evaluate UNRWA, as stated in the traffic light government’s coalition agreement, and then draw the necessary conclusions.”
The minimum requirement must be that everyone who works for UNRWA must sign that they recognize Israel’s right to exist and fight against anti-Semitism. “And we have to check whether this is being implemented,” says the FDP politician.
The refugee status of the Palestinians also needs to be examined, says Müller-Rosentritt. It is long outdated and prevents millions of Palestinians from freeing themselves from immaturity with a perspective on life.
