Unstoppable Odermatt: The Dominance and Triumph of Marco Odermatt in World Cup Skiing

Who else should stop Marco Odermatt?

After Marco Schwarz’s bitter end to the season, the Swiss almost has a clear path towards his third overall World Cup victory in a row.

His lead over the now first pursuer in the race for the big ball, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, is already 396 points.

But “Odi” ends 2023 not only as the leader in the overall World Cup, but also in the downhill, super-G and giant slalom disciplines. World Cup stands >>>

Odermatt: “It definitely doesn’t get any better”

“It definitely doesn’t get any better. Starting the home races in red is very cool,” said Odermatt after his Super-G victory in Bormio, looking ahead to the upcoming races in Adelboden (RTL, January 6/7) and Wengen (Departure + Super-G, January 11-14).

“It’s also a dream somewhere. I was always a fan of Didier Cuche, who often wore the red start number on the descents. Wearing this number in Wengen and hopefully defending it is very cool,” explains the world champion, who, however, is still waiting for his first World Cup victory in downhill.

Odermatt made it clear how much the three red jerseys mean to him with a special Instagram post. It shows him half naked, wearing only his racing numbers.

“It’s fun to lead all the rankings and start 2024 with three red jerseys,” writes Odermatt and wishes you a “Happy New Year.”

In any case, his fans like the sight. “If anyone can carry it, it’s you,” writes one. Another asks with a wink about a second career as a stripper.
