We know the red Michelin guide for gastronomy, but there is also the green guide for tourism. In this guidethe Unterlinden museum in Colmar gets 3 stars. A distinction that the Colmar venue has won since 2015. But this year, the green guide only rewards 25 museums in France, so the distinction is very good. A distinction that will attract new visitors
The guide describes the Unterlinden museum in Colmar as: “a place worth the trip!”. A great reward for the team of around fifty people who work in the museum.
“We are rewarding a whole: the reception, the collections, the exhibitions, the communication and the different events that take place here. We hope with this new distinction to see new visitors who do not know us” rejoices Thierry Cahn, president of the Schongauer company, which manages the Unterlinden museum in Colmar.
Many events organized recently have attracted visitors from all over the world : the end of the renovation of the Isenheim altarpiece, the exhibition of the famous painter Yan Pei-Ming and that of Fabienne Verdier.
Great attendance at the museum this summer
Little by little, the museum is regaining the color of attendance, after the euphoria of 2015 and the reopening after the work. The months of July and August 2023 were very good, with 16,300 visitors. This makes 600 people per opening day.
What is striking is that foreigners came in large numbers. They represented more than 52% of the clientele. They came more than the French to the museum (47.8% of visitors from France). It is the Germans who lead the visitors with 27.5%.
Of January to mid-September 2023, the museum recorded 124,000 visitors. Attendance is expected to exceed 2019 figures, with 165,000 entries.
Of the on October 14, the Unterlinden Museum will celebrate its 170th anniversary, with a vast exhibition dedicated to the 11 essential personalities who made the history of the place. This event will also be punctuated by numerous demonstrations.
A new event which will undoubtedly still attract many curious people.
