The first exhibition of summer 2023 at Espace Orlando will bring together two artists, from July 8 to 30: Louis 2 Verdal and Werner Van Hoyland. These longtime friends and artists with unanimously recognized talents, both nationally and internationally, will see their works presented. Werner Van Hoylandt will bring together his paintings and drawings, Louis 2 Verdal will present an anthology of sculptures, all in wood or metal, and notebooks. In Louis’ studio, in Saint-Céré, we met them.
First installed in Lentillac and for 21 years in Saint-Céré, Louis2 Verdal passes for a madman of creation. He describes his work as follows: “For more than fifty years I have striven, through my imagination and through my energy, to create, produce, in order to surprise, amaze. I find my inspiration in the depths of human relations and this with the most diverse materials, the most unexpected assemblies. I tirelessly explore, torn between derision and humanism.”
The sensitivity of the artist is reflected in his works which combine gravity and warmth. His art feeds on human convulsions in their worst and best.
His accomplice Werner Van Hoylandt was born near Antwerp in Flanders, from a German mother and a Flemish father. A gifted artist, from the age of 11 he obtained a 1st prize in drawing from the department of Antwerp. In 1982, he left Belgium to settle and paint in France, in the Lot. His workshop is located in Alvignac, where he lives. Since 1969, his exhibitions follow one another, both in France and abroad, always with the same success. His works illustrate numerous public and private collections. Artist of naturalism, undisputed master of mural trompe-l’oeil, his immense talent is expressed in all areas. During this exhibition, he will present his latest creations.
Then Louis 2 Verdal continued: “The Orlando cultural space presents contemporary artists, as well as the work of the artist couple Denise and Peter Orlando. This place of culture, perfectly thought out and adapted to artistic presentations, is probably the most beautiful exhibition space of the territory. Werner and I are very honored to be able to exhibit our work there.”
