If there’s one word that makes Emma Thompson’s ears ring, it’s “content”! A term that has been around for some time and which tends to highlight the way in which studios and other platforms streaming consider their productions; that is to say like products filler rather than works.
“I think (industry) executives and creatives should be much, much closer. When I hear people talk about ‘content,’ I feel like the foam they fill the sofa cushions with,” he lamented, according to Varietythe star of Love Actually at a conference organized by the Royal Television Society.
Insulting
“It’s so rude actually. For people who are on the creative side, it’s just insulting,” continued Emma Thompson before calling out to the dramatic arts students present in the assembly.
