Dr. Hossam Mowafi, Professor of Critical Cases at Kasr Al-Ainy College of Medicine, confirmed that stomach pain is one of the symptoms that necessitate a visit to the doctor, and the reason is due to the multiplicity of problems that lead to feeling it.

Muwafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge”, broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that the pain in the upper abdomen under the rib cage may have psychological dimensions, pointing to the possibility that it is a result of bad mood caused by stress or mental disorders.

The professor of critical care medicine added that stomach pain may indicate a problem in the gallbladder, such as inflammation or stones, especially if it is accompanied by some symptoms. To view them, click over here.

He explained that the continued feeling of this pain after the removal of the gallbladder may indicate infection with pancreatitis, which usually occurs due to the reflux of its enzymes, which are responsible for digesting carbohydrates, protein and fats, due to the blockage of the bile ducts.

He pointed out that pancreatitis can be diagnosed easily, by conducting a series of tests, such as CT scans and endoscopic ultrasounds.
