Uralkali has demanded an “immediate refund” from the Haas F1 Team, whose sponsorship contract has been terminated.
On Saturday, March 5, Haas F1 Team announced that it had canceled the driver contract with Nikita Mazepin and the title sponsorship contract with Uralkali.
This decision was made after Russia invaded Ukraine. Uralkali, a Russian fertilizer company, had a relationship with President Vladimir Putin.
On the final day of the Barcelona test, the Haas F1 Team ran a car with pure white coloring, removing the Russian color scheme and the Uralkali brand.
Following the termination of the sponsorship agreement with the Haas F1 Team, Uralkali issued a statement on the morning of Wednesday, March 9.
“Uralkari intends to protect its interests in line with applicable legal proceedings and has the right to initiate judicial proceedings, claim damages and seek repayment of the large amount Uralkali paid during the 2022 F1 season. I reserve it, “Uralkari said in a statement.
“Given that most of the 2022 season sponsorship has already been transferred to Haas and the team has terminated the sponsorship contract before the first race of the 2022 season, Haas will fulfill its obligations to Uralkali this season. Uralkali shall request an immediate refund of the amount Haas received. “
Uralkari has revealed that the money will be used to establish a foundation called “We Complete As One.”
“The refund from Haas and the rest of Uralkali’s 2022 sponsorship funds will be used to establish the We Compete As One Athletes Support Foundation.”
